About

About this event

Through 255 objects and works of art, this exhibition offers a wide-ranging view of the influence of the two books starring this rebellious heroine 160 years after their creation. After showing at CaixaForum Barcelona, Madrid, and Zaragoza, it now arrives at CaixaForum València, where it has already been seen by more than 345,000 people. Developed in collaboration with the Victoria and Albert Museum, the exhibition examines the impact of this Victorian work as a cultural phenomenon of remarkable reach and a source of inspiration for generations of creative minds. Its central figure, Alice, appears as a modern heroine: curious, defiant of logic, and willing to confront a world that is as fantastical as it is absurd. Like the book itself, the exhibition celebrates 160 years of creativity and curiosity through artistic forms inspired by Alice’s imaginative universe, including literature, film, photography, the visual arts, design, fashion, science, and theatre. It draws on the art and design collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, whose founding in 1852 nearly coincides with the publication of the first Alice book.
