About
About this event
The exhibition marks the 175th anniversary of the Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny de València and traces its development as a key institution in the city’s cultural life. Bringing together more than one hundred works, it looks back over 175 years in the same building where the former School of Arts and Crafts was founded in 1850, now the Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània. Created to improve Valencian craftsmanship, the school trained generations of students in applied arts and artistic trades and later expanded, from the 1960s onward, into areas such as interior design, graphic design, fashion, product design, photography and jewellery. Featuring only work by former EASD students, the exhibition links the institution’s heritage with current debates on design education and its future.
