About

About this event

Between 1870 and 1920, Valencia was one of the most active and influential artistic centres of its time. Many painters were born and trained there, although only a small number are still widely remembered today. In this context, the Pinazo family stands out as one of the city’s notable artistic dynasties, alongside others such as the Capuz, López, Benlliure, Sorolla and Manaut Viglietti families. The exhibition focuses on this lineage and on the transmission of artistic practice across generations. It begins with Ignacio Pinazo Camarlench (1849–1916), a major figure in Valencian painting, whose sons José and Ignacio Pinazo Martínez also pursued artistic careers. The presentation centres on Marisa Pinazo Mitjans (1912–1990), daughter of José Pinazo Martínez, as the artist who carries painting into the third generation.
