La fábrica y el sexo was developed with a grant from the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome in 2025. The project brings together photomontage, performance and a final visual essay around three linked ideas: pornography, pornocracy and pornification. The first part consists of three photomontages made from magazines bought in local markets and online materials consulted in Italy. The second is a lecture-performance presented on 10 April 2025 before a live audience in the Sala de Retratos of the academy, addressing the pornography industry in Italy, the precarious working conditions of sex workers, and the displacement of production in search of cheaper labor. It also examines pornographic imagery as a peak expression of a Western, heteronormative and Eurocentric visual system. The video work combines the research and the live performance, edited by Pablo Marte in collaboration with the artist. The third part is a visual essay on the relationship between sex, its representations and the structures of power in which they are produced, with particular attention to porn workers and the Italian socio-political context.
