About this event
Mònica Ajenjo presents a hyperrealist exploration of devotion and chance at XC Gallery. The exhibition opened in Benimaclet on May 6 and runs through May 31, bringing together a selection of works organized around two interconnected narratives, "Et vaig donar el meu cor" and "La bellesa d’allò casual". These two bodies of work share a common sensibility and examine human emotion through fragility, sacrifice, and unexpected beauty. The gallery describes the show as a single surface shaped by two stories: one traces the geography of giving and the ways affection moves toward another person, while the other reveals the hidden splendor in forms shaped by chance. The opening drew a strong public turnout and included a mural mapping intervention created for the occasion by Neuraska and JJ Doc under the title "Kimymouse". Based on a work by Mònica Ajenjo, the piece reconsiders the figure of the leader through a more comic and ironic reading. Ajenjo’s practice is marked by precise, emotionally charged hyperrealist technique that invites reflection. The gallery presents the exhibition as a rare opportunity to see her work in Valencia, since much of her exhibition history is usually based internationally. Her works are held in collections and shown in the United States, Europe, Asia, Australia, and South America. Ajenjo holds degrees in Fine Arts, Art History, and Law, and has built an extensive international career through exhibitions and collaborations with galleries in the United States, where her work has strong visibility and demand.
