About this event

Park Eun Sun’s exhibition "Genoma y estructura escultórica" brings a major open-air public art project to the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències, with eight large-scale works in marble, steel, and granite shown in Spain for the first time. The presentation includes an indoor installation at the entrance to the Museu de les Ciències, introducing the artist’s practice, and seven outdoor sculptures placed across the complex, from the Hemisfèric lakes to the Palau de les Arts. Set against the site’s futuristic architecture, the abstract works use paired marble tones and visible cracks, cuts, and fractures to reflect the tension between destruction and creation. The installation at the museum entrance features illuminated column forms, including "Colonna Infinita-Diffusione" from 2023 and 2025, with polychrome marble spheres, onyx, stainless steel elements, and light, as well as hollow spheres measuring 12 cm in diameter. Outdoors, a highlight is "Colonna Infinita – Accrescimento," an 11-metre sculpture in white and grey marble installed at the foot of the Monteolivete Bridge, alongside three works that appear to rise from the lakes. Born in Mokpo, South Korea, in 1965, Park Eun Sun is internationally known for his fractured marble forms and his exploration of beauty through rupture and reconstruction. His work combines Eastern and Western influences, and he has exhibited in cities including Rome, Florence, Seoul, Houston, and Berlin.
