The Consorci de Museus de la Comunitat Valenciana and the City Council of València pay tribute to the Valencian painter Manuel Benedito on the 150th anniversary of his birth with an exhibition at the Museo de la Ciudad. The show brings together key works from across his career, along with sketches and preparatory studies that trace his creative process and highlight the vitality and complexity of his portraiture. It focuses on portrait commissions, more elaborate compositions, and his treatment of certain themes and popular figures. Among the featured works are the self-portrait La vuelta del trabajo (1905), shown publicly for the first time after its acquisition by the Museo del Prado in 2024, and the upper section of the large diptych Canto VII de la Divina Comedia. El Infierno de Dante, which is leaving the Fundación Manuel Benedito for the first time.
