34 Illustrious Sculptors x 34 Illustrators

The Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània (CCCC) presents an exhibition in which contemporary illustrators pay tribute to key figures in Valencian sculpture from the late 19th century to the present. Through personal visual languages and individual sensibilities, the artists reinterpret sculptors whose work helped shape the evolution of sculptural expression, balancing craft tradition with new ways of understanding space, matter, and form. The exhibition traces the shift from academic models rooted in figuration, religious imagery, and public monuments to modern approaches that transformed ideas of volume and its relationship to the surrounding environment. It brings together responses ranging from continuity with classical and Mediterranean traditions to abstraction, formal synthesis, and structural experimentation. The second edition of this project broadens the field of illustration, highlighting artists from comics, publishing, music, tattooing, and fashion, all of them born in the Valencian Community or adopted by it. Among the featured pairings are Cristina Durán and Ángeles Marco, Jordi Bayarri and José Gonzalvo Vives, Sergio Meliá and Mariano Benlliure, Amélia Navarro and Francisco Marco-Díaz, César Sebastián and Elisa Piqueras, Carla Fuentes and Helena Sorolla, and María Herreros and Emilia Torrente Sancho. Other participants include Leviathan and Ignacio Pinazo, Mik Baro and José Viciano Martí, Don Rogelio J. and Vicente Navarro Romero, and Rosa Deltoro and Ricardo Boix, alongside works by Adrián Bago, Soledad Bardají, Sergio Bleda, Canya, Fedde Carroza, Nacho Casanova, Julia Cejas, Iván García Aguado, Manel Gimeno, Esteban Hernández, Mai Hidalgo, Ladislao Kubala, Javier Lacasta Llácer, César Moragues, Beatriz Quesada, and Paco Ramos.
